    Hi Patricia,
The images look prestine. It is a well balanced modern look. But I cannot help myself always thinking..... who can live in this? How do you keep a greenhouse box like this cool in summer? How long till everything is faded and cracked by all that lovely sunshine streaming into this house.
Architecturally the floating roof is a real achievement, but it turns out, most people feel uncomfortable in a structure that looks unsupported.

  2. Hi Ron
It is true that not everyone feels comfortable living in modern architecture. Hopefully the problems of large expanses of windows and the greenhouse effect that can result have been carefully thought out and taken into consideration in advance eg: Low E glazing on glass to control heat transfer, proper site orientation to sun exposure, cross ventilation, adequate roof overhang, surrounding landscaping, and fade resistant materials and finishes.

    Hi Patricia,
How can I resist not to comment on this Post which brings me back to my first city and its designers...ah! Dordoni, ah! Urquiola ah! many others...
I sometimes share Ron's thoughts but as you said there are ways to overcome potential problems.
High Design is also like High Fashion (Alta Moda instead of Pret a Porter, missing some accents here, apologies)and proposes trends to be then modified for everyday life(unless you are one of the happy few).

  4. Oh how I swoon for modern architecture! One of my biggest regrets is that i did not buy a modern home i listed and sold last summer. My post "Modern Mama" talks about the house... I LOVE open spaces and the way many modern homes bring the outdoors in. Nice post! :)

  8. Makes me think of Philip Johnson's Glass House. I think it's the landscape...and how exposed I feel.

For me modern is likened to an ingredient in a recipie, like salt...doesn't taste the same without it, and it mixes well with everything.

  11. I grew up in contemporary style homes, and although I envision myself living in more of a traditional style home (architecturally) I have such admiration for these beautiful images, with homes filled with glass and light.

There is a home on the market in Atlanta right now, on my favorite street in my favorite area, and it is quite contemporary (architecture). I have not gone to see it, because I have it in my mind that I should get a traditional home, but every time I drive by I feel a pull...maybe I should go see it!

  12. Fantastic blog - truly inspiring images! I've been looking for a suitable decor to compliment my friends amazing aluminium grandfather clock (let me know what you think....photo here: MAD Sculptures )- this might just do the trick?
